Despite the stock market roller coaster ride in August, it is still a good month for dividends as many companies are paying
dividends
in August. 15 of my 23 counters paid dividends in August and produced
the second highest monthly dividend harvest record for me (highest is in
May 2015).
Dividends collected in August:
1. Starhub: $335
2. SATS: $270
3. SingTel: $234.33
4. CDLHT: $140.70
5. Suntec Reit: $122.50
6. Keppel Corp: $120
7. CMT: $108.40
8. Starhill Global: $103.20
9. SIA Engg: $85
10. SPH Reit: $78.30
11. Frasers CT: $60.72
12. Keppel DC Reit: $32.04
13. FCOT: $23.52
14. Boustead: $20
15. Keppel InfraTr: $15
Total: $1,748.71
This
shows that this dividend investing strategy is working for me, and my snowball is getting bigger as it rolls down the hill.
We
can be considered Financial Free when the dividends collected exceed
the monthly expenditures. This is in fact the second time that my
dividends are more than my monthly expenditures.
Next, my third best month of the year will probably be November.
So, just keep calm, buckle up the seat belt, relax and enjoy the journey.
Be content with what you have. Rejoice in the way things are. Relax and enjoy the journey.

Bloodshed at the Fortress Gate...
Fierce battle with the Bear Army at the Fortress Gate today.
My stock portfolio values had fallen more than $7k today. The total portfolio value finally fell below the total invested capital value. Reservist units (dividends) are activated, and with these reinforcement, the Bear Army is temporarily repelled. (The portfolio is still positive when including dividends).
My "S" battalion suffered heavy casualties fighting the Bear Army. The significant ones:
1. SPH (my foundation stock) wounded (value fell below average cost);
2. Starhill Global Reit and Suntec Reit wounded (value fell below average cost);
3. SPH Reit seriously injured (value fell below breakeven cost, including dividends);
4. SCI and SIA Engg died in battle (value fell > 20%).
How long can the remaining troops hold the fortress?

The Last Stand...
The Bear Army is attacking furiously.
My stock portfolio values had fallen more than $12k for just the three weeks in August. Currently the portfolio has not yield any territory to the Bear Army just because my "S" battalion is still holding the fortress.
Can they hold until end August or need to go into tactical retreat?

Dividends collected in July: $0
2015 avg dividends/month: $599.55 [59.09% up at this stage cf. 2014]
Boring process of building up my passive income portfolio brick-by-brick (bit-by-bit).
Comments:
1. Big fat ZERO dividend in July.
2. July was a volatile month, especially for the last week, with STI fell by almost 5%. My portfolio at end July received a minor hit as the increase in values of 3 of my top 4 holdings cushioned the drop in values for the Reits and O&G sectors.
3. Finally the second best dividend harvesting month August has arrived. My hard works in planting my dividend trees are starting to bear dividend fruits. August will be my second highest dividend harvest from my dividend plantation (other than May 2015).
